It's been awhile, and in that time, I've been editing my novel.
(Well as much as time allows for.) For the first time in the making of albatross, I'm using a plot chart. And it's for the edit. It helped me pick out mean little plot wholes from the Alligator's mouth. So far I've found that my main character has to find out my other main character's a murderer earlier on in the story, and I need to further develop a couple of character relationships. You might think that's characterization, but if I don't fix these issues the plot is all weird so really it's plot doctoring.

I've also found that wearing black snake skin print heels (fioni) help me write. Rather, they make me feel like I am ready to write. It's like wearing your favorite shirt or watching a good episode of star trek can make you feel good and empowered. Boom; my heels. And my tight jeans.

Well, that's all I've got write now >:D

This is or was the final day of nano, depending on where you are. While I've already finished, I am now waiting for my best friend to finish up. I know she can do it! and I know I'll be up until 12 A.M. waiting and keeping tabs on her progress.

Congrats to everyone who has finished! I'm mentally high-fiving you!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-90544643326398563552012-11-25T08:45:00.002-08:002012-11-25T08:45:45.344-08:00NaNoWriMo- Day 25, The type up and finishDear Lovely Readers,

Last night, at 8:32 pm, I finished writing my novel.
Am I done yet, though? No. I'm not. The work is not over until the write-up becomes the time up and the words are in for the count.
However, last night, holding the end in my hands, I felt elated. Also, kind of like, I couldn't believe these past days seem like forever, and that they were really so short. Then it was like, well I'm glad I'm not actually done until I actually publish my novel, which involves months of editing. :) I don't want to be done in the land of Albatross just yet^^

Before the month started, during the prep period, I read up a bunch of articles on how to go about doing NaNoWriMo, what kind of prep work should be done, what are the benefits of doing NaNoWriMo, and all of that. If I could pick out 3 things to say I've learned from this experience, they would be:
1. To trust myself as a writer
2. Commitment
3. and lastly, I've learned a lot about my writing styles. For example, I have a tendency to develop minor background details, then dash into extravagant in the moment details.

Being my first year, I don't have a whole lot to say for pearls of wisdom, but there's something I read in one of those articles which was 'Write the story you would want to read,' that I think is a good start! Also, I'd tell the newer wrimos to experiment, invent, and destroy. (EID) Ha, look at me trying to come up with a fancy acronym for something I totally just made up on the spot!~ Back to that, though. Experiment with your characters, invent a full profile for them, and if they aren't working out, destroy or change the parts you can't stand about them. (You don't have to edit parts to do this. I didn't.) My playwriting teacher calls this 'Transformation."

Yeah, you know, I think I'm going to do this again next year. In the meantime, I've got more work to do!
H.T.-OUT.
:)

Right now I'm feeling a mixed feeling kind of shape or collection or something of fear, pressure and excitement.Wait- Isn't that called...Nope, had it, but I lost it. Now sitting at 40,132 words and 11 days left.

Tonight, this very night; This wonderfully raining, lightning zapped black abyss staring in at me from outside my window; I finally figured out exactly how my novel is going to end. I found out the final connection of my characters, and my final sequence of events that make you go' well, that escalated quickly.' At the same time they fit. Surprise! :D one of my characters is a murderer! :D Isn't that great? Ha. Bad, twisted joke there, sorry^^'

Yeah, so, ouch-11 days left. This brilliant pain in the ass ending, and 11 days to get to 50,000 words, but guys even though my initial goal was 50,000 words, I just want to finish. I want to end it, and be like YES! and be satisfied when that 11th day comes. That's my fear-Can I finish it? The next things that have to happen in sequence are about a page each, the next three things anyway. The ultrasound with one of my characters, more creepy poltergeist moves, and a huge state of confession.

But, I need to! that means, watch me and quote me, every spare moment, I will be writing. Creating. Determining the futures of my little creatures I am god to and so yeah-
back to writing, it is!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-43255312910474918172012-11-14T07:00:00.000-08:002012-11-14T07:00:01.201-08:00NaNo Day 14, the skipping past of 25,000 wordsDear Lovely Readers,

I haven't been allowed much of a time slot to write in this blog, so-here's some maintenance work.
3 days ago, on day 11, I succeeded the 25 k mark. Half way through the word count!
Everyone who is right there with me, or already past that and further, Good Job you guys!

In reflection; (In regards to the 25,000 words.)...

I remember the planning stages, 14 days before we all got to writing, and I was worried about all these tiny details- Yes, it helps to have those little details at hand, but also, I've found it's a lot more fun to come up with aspects of your story on the spot. You know, leave it to the moment kind of idea.
I remember day 1, thinking 'Oh yeah man, I did it. I did my 1667 words. eat that.' Then, I came back to it the next day, and the next day after that. With over 6000 words, and the biggest surprise to me was whereas I didn't really know where I would be right now-and still don't- the beginning was the easiest part, and now as I'm in the middle, I'm just thinking of the ending.
The first thing I'm proud of myself for in regards to where I am sitting now, it's that I'm still in this. I know it's Day 14 right now, and tomorrow my world could crash when I attempt to write the next word, and I can't do it- as tomorrow is the official month half-way mark- BUT, I've stuck with it. I've done it routinely, and keeping a consistent routine can be something that's really difficult for me.

As for today,

My grand, superior hope is to proudly climb the summit to 32,000 words. I'm sitting at just a few hundred after 29,000, so approx. 3000 words today. I'm starting now.

Ok, bye guys, have a good day and thanks for reading!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-23918760358815239262012-11-11T16:44:00.000-08:002012-11-11T16:44:00.020-08:00NaNoWriMo- 11 days inDear lovely readers,

How is everyone?
First off, I want to apologize that most of these little blog entries aren't as substantial as maybe they should be. (Don't always have a lot to do with NaNoWriMo, etc.) From now on, I'm going to do my best to bring them back to the central topic, and then, if there's enough time, the extras.

Today is day 11, and I'm celebrating this 11th day with a mandarin orange, tea and more writing. This morning I went back and read the first three paragraphs I had written what feels longer than 10 days ago. (Don't worry, I didn't edit, although I was really tempted to!) I started 15 minutes ago, and have only written 251 words so far, but tonight I'm going to do the unthinkable I think and write at least 3000 words. But first, I'm going to re-read some auto summarized bits of my story on word, and relocate the direction my novel is actually going in. I'm a tad lost right now, I'm not going to lie.

Well, I haven't been using a flash drive to save so far, but that's got to change because my laptop just doesn't have the mental capacity to keep saving so much. It's not doing so well, it's gotten slow. This is entirely problematic. So tomorrow, I'm going to see my brother-My second family computer genius- and see if I can borrow one from him. Some of you might have panicked at the first statement^^' Worry not, I've been consistently emailing myself the attachment of my novel. Every night.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-43845868641416217202012-11-10T20:39:00.003-08:002012-11-10T20:39:46.733-08:00NaNoWriMo- Day 9 post-Good evening, or morning, or afternoon lovely readers,
How's it going?

So, it's day 9, DAY 9. Leaving, approx. 21 more days to finish writing a novel draft. It's almost crazy to think about. The whole month of writing seemed crazy, actually- That's gotta be half of the reason I'm doing this, lol. Here I sit, with my tea, and my cat.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-50514179282497329122012-11-10T20:39:00.002-08:002012-11-10T20:39:22.444-08:00NaNoWriMo-10th day post, and Play writing~Dear lovely Readers,

It is the 10th day of Nano, and I WAS going to write yesterday- but due to a headache from writing, I avoided it. Well, as of today I've beaten my weekend goal for words and realized I obviously need to set higher word goals for myself^^' But here I am at 23,019 words. How many do all of you have? :D Are we losing our minds yet? That's probably a good thing nowadays.
Uhm, that being said, I've been running on little sleep as of late due to spider paranoia. I don't like spiders, and I found 3 of them in my room in the last couple of days. One crawled up my leg and unto my laptop screen. I've been living, however barley, off of Orange Pekoe tea. Ahh, Tea.
I've added a new musician to my list for Nano songs, and that's Gavin degraw. I love his music, especially the songs 'Chariot' and ' I don't wanna be.'
I need to start doing some more exercise now, I think I'm gaining a bit of weight here-and maybe that's to be expected but I'm not to fond of that idea.

In other news, I got accepted into a day a week play writing youth program!~
Awkward pockward, My best friend's ex-who's also one of my friends-was accepted in as well. So I'll be seeing a lot of him I guess^^ It's awkward pockward, and it shouldn't even be, but that's teenage s*** I suppose. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to doing two different kinds of writing this month. Actually, this month-the rest of it- promises to be busy and have some unexpected turns. My first class for this program is this coming Monday~

Thanks for reading,

So, Guys, day 8- and I'm at 19,071 words^^
And also, Apparently, Scott Westerfield is on the list for pep talks this month! That's so crazy, I love his uglies series~ Which I faithfully ready up until I finished the series in grade 8. I just loved the ideas he had! Can't wait to read his pep talk.

Sorry guys, I would write more, but I'm especially tired today^^' Well, maybe tomorrow~Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-33410228454350352642012-11-07T21:40:00.001-08:002012-11-07T21:40:16.501-08:00NaNoWriMo- Day 7Dear lovely readers,

How is everyone?
So, it's the 7th day of NaNoWriMo, and that brings me to 17,050 words with a goal of 23,000 at the close of the weekend. So, uhm, something like 2,000 words tomorrow, 2,000 Saturday, and 2,000 for Sunday. Apologies, that was quite redundant.^^'
How are all of my fellow wrimo's doing in your writing? How far have you all gotten?

Yes, ladies and gents, I am a Canadian, but on the grand whole I am A North AMERICAN Canadian, and that being said I can't tell you how happy I am that that 2-faced, self-contradicting, rights denying political bastard Romney didn't get elected. Yes, today, I am happy to be American! Go 'Murica!
And if you voted for Romney, my first question is WHY? (Even his name gives me the weirds. "Mitt"? Like Mitten? Mitten, like glove? Glove!? Glove starts with a G and you know what else starts with a G? Hitler. Alright, Now I'm just being ridiculous. But I still don't understand your motives.) (For the record, I'm aware that Hitler starts with an 'H')
Ba Da Da dumsh! 'Murica!

For those of you who are lovers of Hetalia, as I am, aren't you an America fan? The dude's awesome as a character.
Oh dear god, my head. I just finished writing 3,000 words bringing me to JUST surpass the 15,000 mark.
I'm now even more curious how all of this is going to end up on the 30th now that I'm standing here at a landmark number. I've come to realize today that a lot of my writing is by my emotion, and having said that, one major idea coming in to play today was the feeling of idolizing someone. My character Sevastia Now has someone she really looks up to in the story, because I've been feeling really lucky to have people around me able to teach me an assortment of new things.
I'm starting to find that listening to Ballads are really great whilst writing, because a lot of them can be long, and soothing. So I'm not changing the song on YouTube or on my playlist every 3 minutes. It really puts in a pause and that kind of gets me restless and stirs some very rage-y impatience feelings. My favorite ballad is 'The Lady Of Shalott.'

On the topic of Idols or Writing role models, I have one!
There's this guy I'm friends with, but we're not incredibly close. Well, I'd like to think we are, but given the actual distance between the answer is that we're really not that close. Got me? I call him a lot of things, but because I don't really want to give his name out on here, His name means 'Victory of the people.'
Mr. Victory of the people isn't some published writer with some awards, but his poetry has always been on my list of favourites. It's very dark, and it can be really hard to read because of the intensity of it. However, it's very honest and it's a good portrait that is portrayed in each. He writes things that make you think. That's the kind of writer I want to be. The type that makes you think, and so maybe that's why. Little does he know, Mr. Victory of the people is part of the reason that I started 'Heavy writing' again 8 months ago. I have a bit of a story up on Deviantart, and yeah, I pretty much wrote it for him because he gave feedback on it and said he liked reading it.

How is everyone? Well, I hope you're all doing splendidly, and that those of you who are common crew Wrimos are having fun with your novels~
Today I reached 12,007 words and to be honest, I didn't even think I'd get to writing today. I was seriously wondering if I had the time with the homework I was doing, and housework. I've really got nothing I can whine about compared to some people, but it seems like a lot in the position. I'm glad I got to finishing 1,8 hundred something words as of 5 minutes ago. What are all of you at? Extra 3 cups of coffee yet? xD
-Until later, H.T.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-79323976110064443132012-11-04T11:24:00.000-08:002012-11-04T11:24:00.311-08:00NaNoWriMo-Day 4 PostDear lovely readers,

I haven't updated for four days, so let me start of by a word count- 9061 words.

So far I've learned that making the average for a day isn't as hard as I initially thought it would be. So I'm just doing as much as I can squeeze in in a day, and hoping that that is approx. 2000 words. I've also learned I have completely deviated from my initial word progression idea.^^' Oh well.

I got to thinking this morning, in the haste of doing everything, about the first novel I ever tried to write. I had this dinosaur computer, that had two games and Microsoft word on it- that's right, not even internet. So, I decided to start a story in grade 5, March 2007, on the crappy dinosaur computer. I never finished it, but I got I think 13 chapters in-and they were short, trust me this was no work of art. I called the thing Camp Frightmare, and my main character was a girl named Jamie. The idea behind this were a bunch of kids had to pick camps to go to before school was out or they wouldn't be able to go to a camp, and everyone was expected to sign up. those who didn't, or were too indecisive, got to go to this monster horror camp that there were a million rumours about. Those who have read the kids book, Teacher from the Black Lagoon, it kind of had a feel like that. Now the reason I never finished this was that my dad threw out the dinosaur computer one day when I wasn't there to stop him, and bam, the story with it. I didn't even have a hotmail or email at that time, so no, I didn't think to save it elsewhere. I went to write it all again, but found that I couldn't and that it would never have been as good as the original.

I think that that was an important milestone for me, when all of it went down. It adds to the reason I still write. The reason why I want to publish something by the time I'm 18. I write, and that's what I do.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-31861855495509971582012-11-01T17:04:00.001-07:002012-11-01T17:04:16.519-07:00NaNoWriMo- The first dayDear lovely readers,

How was your Halloween? :D

Today is November 1st and that means it's the first day of NaNoWriMo!
Honestly, I don't know what to say^^' This morning I woke up, and rushed to writing, knowing my friend had already started at about midnight. I was like, 'I've got to catch up!' and that's what I tried to do. Today it was a lot of fun to just sit down with words and create even the short amount that I did, and one thing I learned today is that I'm a fluff lord~ Fluff being the magical but not so useful stuff you just happily throw in and think it'll be useful and then go back and read it and it's like, 'Damn.' But I'm not going to change it right now, hopefully it's something I'll remember to edit.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-34342343418671194002012-10-31T16:27:00.003-07:002012-10-31T16:27:59.746-07:00NaNoWriMo- Ready to Fly..that is, I mean, write^^Dear lovely readers,

First and foremost; Happy Halloween!
I hope you're all dressed up or dressing kids up or watching cute Halloween movies on the couch wrapped in the arms of the love of your life...or best friend...maybe you've only got a cat. That'll do. I have a cat, but I'll have you know I'm not one who can really sit in front of a screen for too too long. I am hanging with friends for a couple of hours and then, I'm coming home to cleanse my bedroom and the kitchen portion of my household. From there, I have some serious homework to finish up-Which as you can tell I'm totally NOT procrastinating it at the moment. Ew, socials. Ew, Math. Two tests to be done. You're completely correct if you're mentally advising me to get off my derrière and do some studying. Thank-you, I most certainly will apoun the close of this blog update.

So, Nanowrimo begins tomorrow! How psyched are you?!
Maybe you're twitching your way through your house to the kitchen cupboard to make sure you bought granola bars and other non-perishable food items in bulk for tomorrow. Maybe you're just doing some personal maintenance that you probably won't do for the net month-Shaving your face squirrel, eating vegetables and drinking some vitamin water.
Well, I've been going on to some finishing touches before I wake up tomorrow and begin a masterpiece...I hope, anyhow. I've literally had to resist the urge to sit down and take out a pen and start writing the first chapter of Albatross. OR, rather, the first sentence. I guess I wonder how long it'll last that I'm excited to be a bedroom, household, school, and W.EX Shut-in. I'm looking forward to drinking a lot of coffee. Forget 42- Coffee is the answer to the universe.

First of all, thank-you for suffering through these tedious before-hand entries- In just over a day, the writing begins. What am I thinking?
LOL, that's not what I mean, because of course, I m-
I'm thinking that this is going to be one of the greatest things I've ever done with myself in the last 5 years. Sad, right? but still true. I'm thinking, whatever the turn out of this experience is- I'm going to love it.
I just got an email about planning things out for the next month, and hey, amen I need it. Are you all going to be as busy as I am? or worse? Busier? Which reminds me, Kudos to all the adults doing this. us teenagers don't have it half as busy most of the time, so I really think you all deserve a high-five. Yep. You will never be too old or too awesome for that!~ Ok, loves, write on and write hard, and I'll write again to update you further! Oh,
P.S. Anyone want to share their story idea?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-52864284959197353762012-10-27T13:09:00.000-07:002012-10-27T13:09:45.172-07:00NaNoWriMo-4 days for finalizationDear lovely readers,

I hope you are having the sort of day that makes you to feel unstoppable.
Finally, after getting something of a decent night's sleep last night, that is how I'm feeling. Re-juiced and ready to take on the world!
That being said, I am now four days, 11 hours and some-odd minutes and seconds away from my attempt at a draft zero novel. Which means, it is now time to finalize and set in stone a few key details. (at least, this is my opinion. )
Detail one- characters. I have decided these, and their traits in the beginning so, there's not much finalizing to be done here.
Detail two- Point of view. I have yet to establish what point of view I'd like to have for my novel.
Detail three- Where is this story going to end up?
and finally, Detail four- blocking out chapters. Do I even want chapters?
4 details and four days away from NaNoWrimo 2012 Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-77257618807076608502012-10-25T07:18:00.001-07:002012-10-25T07:18:09.683-07:00NaNoWriMo- Just under a week away :)/ styles?Dear Lovely Readers,

Needless to say, I'm excited~ Well, actually, currently I'm kind of drowsy^^'
But being just under a week away, I need to get myself a flash drive!
you know, to put files on just in case~ I actually need to do my whole computer set-up~ and re-organize a schedule involving the amount of words per day and other activities.Maybe clean off my old writing desk and bring a chair into my room. It's 6 days away. Wow.
I don't know if the name's going to change, but it looks like the title of my book will be 'Albatross,' which is story of a psychic girl and her guardian demon.
One thing I've already learned from this, is that my best friend and I have very different writing styles. I like to have some sort of plan, at least, when writing whereas she just goes for it. It doesn't really surprise me, because I know the woman couldn't make a bubble or flow chart to save herself, but I do find it kind of awesome that she will just go for it like that.^^
If you're involved in the NaNoWriMo, two things;
A.) What's your writing style? thought out- or just go for it? and
B.) I wanted to say somewhere, and here seems appropriate, Good luck fellowship of the pen! (Keyboard, pencil, and other miscellaneous writing materials.)* Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1004904252196111855.post-10846392994235527172012-10-22T06:49:00.000-07:002012-10-22T06:49:48.088-07:00NaNoWriMo- Composing a word schedule/ plot ideaDear Lovely Readers,

The amount of words a day you'd have to write in order to make it to 50,000 is 1666. That can be, sometimes, two hours of writing a night (approx.) So, I've been thinking of different times I could write to accomplish about 2000 words a day, at least. What it falls down to, is that in my spare time before school starts I can probably throw down 300 words, and from my just after school time, I can throw down about 400 words. Which leaves me at, 1300 words to throw in at night fall. Yeah, it's not much less but it's the dent in the matter that counts. Plus, that's only a weekday. As for the weekend; 500 words half an hour after I wake up, 500 words after breakfast, 500 words after lunch, 500 words at 5, and 500 thrown in at nightfall for a Saturday. On Sunday, 500 words after I wake up, 500 after breakfast, and 500 at 5 again, leaving 500 or more for the nightfall period. I know most of you, if not all of you, don't even care about my obsessive time scheme but I thought I'd have it down here as something of a guideline for myself.

I had an idea that goes towards plot doctoring, which is to have a friend interview you about what your plot is. This especially works if you're great at improv, and maybe having the interview will help you clue in to plot holes you hadn't seen were there. At least, I know, this could really help me.

For those of you who are unaware of the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) it's a month long literary abandon during the month of November. I heard about this adventure from a friend last year, and basically, in 30 days you write a 50,000 word novel. I decided, since one of my goals is to publish a book before I turn 18, I'm going to participate this year. I don't really know what to personally expect of the experience, so I'm going to keep this little blog for when I've been driven nuts, as I hear that's bound to happen.
October is the prep month before the big 30 day write, and I happened to start a tad late, so I've been working the last few days to come up with characters and a plot. I'm already experiencing a wide array of emotions. From excited, to defeated, to excited, to frustrated by my lack of plotted conflict, to scared, to mentally exhausted-but still, somehow in the pits of it all-Excited.
What I'm thankful for is that I have a friend, and we are newbies at this together. We can both go to the library and write, and we can compare ideas and basically discuss things out if we're having trouble. We're aiming for a common goal.
One thing I'm looking forward to is writing everyday for a reason. Not just the free-lance poetry, one-act, English homework writing I do everyday; But something apart of a greater whole and goal.
I'm not looking forward to lack of sleep, and having almost literally no life. I think it'll all be worth it, however!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12254969643058484061noreply@blogger.com0
